Abstract:

In this study, it was aimed to analyze the conceptual structure and trends of the research area related to smart boards by analyzing the researches on the use of smart boards in educational environments with bibliometric methods. The data source of the research consists of 287 studies included as a result of the scanning made from WoS and Scopus databases. The results of the research show that there is a general increase in the number of publications on the use of smart boards, but there are also decreases from time to time. It was emphasized that rapid changes in technology affect education and that new learning designs and pedagogical practices should be developed. The results of the research determined the most relevant journals and the most cited studies on the use of smart boards. Lotka Law analysis showed low specialization in the field. It has been determined that Turkey is the most productive country in smart board research and the cooperation between countries in the field is weak. It has been determined that the studies on smart boards are generally done at primary/secondary school levels and focus on teacher attitudes. Teachers' professional development and attitudes are the current issues of the field. The results showed that thematic areas such as technology integration, technology acceptance, classroom teaching and learning experiences, and higher education came to the fore in research on the use of whiteboards. For the development of new research areas, it is recommended to increase expertise in the field, strengthen cooperation between countries and conduct research on current issues.
