Türkiye ve Birleşik Krallık arasındaki siyasi ve ekonomik ilişkiler uzun yıllara dayanmakta olup dünyada ortaya çıkan siyasi ve ekonomik krizler bu ülkelerin ticaret ilişkilerini etkilemektedir. Ancak bu ülkelerin partnerlik ilişkileri özellikle ticaret alanında uyumlu bir şekilde günümüze kadar devam etmiştir. Bu ilişki kapsamında ortaya çıkan en önemli gelişmelerden biri de yakın zamanda imzalanmış olan Serbest Ticaret Anlaşması (STA)’dır. Bu çalışmada Neoliberalizmin özünde barındırdığı serbest ekonomi ideolojisine ve STA’nın bu ideolojideki yerine değinilmiştir. Türkiye ve Birleşik Krallık’ın gelişen ekonomik ilişkileri kapsamlı olarak değerlendirilmiş, ilerleyen ticaret ve yatırımcılık ilişkileri detaylı bir şekilde incelenmiş ve gelecekte gerçekleştirilmesi hedeflenen iş birliği alanlarının önemine vurgu yapılmıştır. Ayrıca kalitatif araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak, birincil ve ikincil kaynaklardan elde edilen veriler objektif bir şekilde yorumlanmıştır. STA sonrası yeni dönemde iki ülke arasında ortaya çıkan değişiklikler ve bunların iki ülke üzerindeki ekonomik etkileri ayrıntılı bir şekilde incelendikten sonra bu süreç siyasi açıdan da değerlendirilmiştir. Bu doğrultuda ülkeler arasındaki ticaret rakamları var olan dokümanlar ve çeşitli kaynaklar üzerinden detaylı olarak taranmış ve farklı dönem krizleri (küresel ve bölgesel krizler) de göz önünde bulundurularak karşılaştırmalı mukayese analizi yöntemiyle yorumlanmıştır.
The political and economic relations between Türkiye and the United Kingdom are based on many years and the political and economic crises that have emerged in the world affect the trade relations of these countries. However, the partnership relations of these countries have continued harmoniously until today, especially in the field of trade. One of the most important developments that emerged within the scope of this relationship is the recently signed Free Trade Agreement (FTA). In this study, the ideology of free economy, which is at the core of neoliberalism, and the place of FTA in this ideology are mentioned. The developing economic relations of Türkiye and the United Kingdom were evaluated comprehensively, the advancing trade and investment relations were examined in detail and the importance of the areas of cooperation aimed to be realized in the future was emphasized. In addition, by using the qualitative research method, the data obtained from primary and secondary sources were interpreted objectively. After examining the changes that emerged between the two countries in the new post-FTA period and their economic effects on the two countries in detail, this process was also evaluated from a political point of view. In addition, the trade figures between these countries were scanned in detail through existing documents and various sources and interpreted by comparative analysis method by taking into account the crises of different periods (global and regional crises).
