Introduction: Showing positive attitudes for job and institution will cause positive consequences for both individual and institution. Negative attitudes shown in work life will decrease the motivation for career, production and satisfaction of nurses’ working in intensive care clinics which has heavier work than the others , also will reduce the work standards and quality. In professional work life , nurses utilization researches will influence the quality of care standards considerably. Purpose: This study was designed as a correlative descriptive study in order to investigate the effects of job attitudes of pediatric intensive care nurses on the barriers to research utilization. Methods: The study sample consisted of 172 nurses from university hospitals in Izmir, Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, Mersin, Adana and Samsun and pediatric intensive care units of two public hospitals in Izmir. The study was conducted with 65 nurses who consented to participate. The study data were collected with a Sociodemographic Data Form, the Job Attitude Scale and the Barriers To Research Utilization Scale. The data forms were sent to nurses by e-mails and the completed forms were collected with e-mails. Findings: The average age of nurses was 29.72 ± 4.66 and 56.9% of them had a university degree. The most common barriers for nurses to utilizations researches was reported to be the lack of a central unit that collects and provides access to nursing data (%87.7). The correlation analysis between the Job Attitude Scale and Barriers To Research Utilization Scale illustrated a positive meaningful correlation (.285**). Results: It has been reported that job attitude affected the perception of barriers in the use of researches. Moreover, it has been found that a positive increase in the job attitudes of pediatric clinical care nurses also increased the perception of barriers in the use of researches.
