Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı yenidoğan yoğun bakım ünitesinde görev yapan hemşirelerin prematüre ve hasta yenidoğanların gelişimsel desteğini sağlamada yetkinliklerinin belirlenmesi ve etkileyen faktörlerin incelenmesidir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel türde yürütülen araştırmanın verileri Temmuz-Ekim 2020 tarihleri arasında Türkiye’nin batısında bulunan bir ilde toplanmıştır. Çalışmanın evrenini, ilgili ildeki kamu ve özel hastanelerinin yenidoğan yoğun bakım ünitelerinde çalışan toplam 118 hemşire oluşturmuştur. Örneklem seçimine gidilmemiş tüm hemşirelere ulaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Verilerin toplandığı tarihte çalışan ve araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 104 hemşire çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Anketlerin cevaplama oranı %88,14’tür. Çalışma verileri Hemşire Tanıtıcı Özellikler Formu, Gelişimsel Bakım Uygulamaları Formu ve Hemşireler için Gelişimsel Destek Yetkinlik Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan hemşirelerin hepsi kadın olup yaş ortalaması 33,00±7,49 yıl, %67,30’u lisans mezunu ve yenidoğan yoğun bakımda çalışma süresi ortalama 7,78±5,17 yıldır. Gelişimsel bakımla ilgili eğitim alan hemşirelerin oranı %74’tür. Hemşirelerin ölçek puan ortalamaları 64,49±6,06 olup eğitim düzeyi, yenidoğan yoğun bakım ünitesinde çalışma süresi, gelişimsel bakımla ilgili eğitim alma durumu arasında anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmamıştır (p>0,05). Hemşirelerin yenidoğan yoğun bakımda çalışma süresi ile eleştirel düşünme alt boyutu ve hemşirelerin çalışma şekli ile etkileşim, eleştirel düşünme ve ortaklık alt boyutları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Sonuç: Yapılan araştırmada hemşirelerin Gelişimsel Destek Yetkinlik Ölçek puan ortalamaları yüksek olsa da prematüre ve hasta yenidoğanın bakımında kullandıkları gelişimsel bakım uygulamaları sınırlıdır. Bu nedenle gelişimsel bakıma yönelik bilgilerinin ve uygulamalarının geliştirilmesi gerekmektedir.
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the competencies of nurses working in the neonatal intensive care unit in providing developmental support for premature and sick newborns and to examine the factors affecting it. Materials and Methods: The data of the descriptive and cross-sectional study were collected in a province located in the west of Turkey between July and October 2020. The population of the study consisted of a total of 118 nurses working in the neonatal intensive care units of public and private hospitals in the relevant province. It was tried to reach all the nurses who did not choose the sample. 104 nurses who were working at the time of data collection and agreed to participate in the study were included in the study. The response rate of the questionnaires was 88.14%. Study data were collected with the Nurse Descriptive Characteristics Form, the Developmental Care Practices Form, and the Developmental Support Competency Scale for Nurses. Results: All of the nurses participating in the study were female, with a mean age of 33.00±7.49 years, 67.30% of them had a bachelor's degree, and the average working time in the neonatal intensive care unit was 7.78±5.17 years. The rate of nurses who received training on developmental care was 74.00%. The mean scale score of the nurses was 64.49±6.06, and no significant relationship was found between education level, working time in the neonatal intensive care unit, and receiving education about developmental care (p>0.05). A statistically significant relationship was found between nurses' working time in neonatal intensive care unit and critical thinking sub-dimension, and nurses' working style and interaction, critical thinking and partnership sub-dimensions (p<0.05). Conclusion: In the study, although the average score of the Developmental Support Competency Scale of the nurses was high, the developmental care practices they used in the care of premature and sick newborns were limited. For this reason, it is necessary to improve their knowledge and practices regarding developmental care.
