This study aims at finding the problems of refugees particularly the issue of their identity that changes according to the circumstances they face. Various factors become the reason for the identity crisis of one's personality. Migration due to some political or cultural conflicts pressurizes the migrants to change their identity. To this end, Hamid’s Exit West has been selected for analysis in light of Kunz and Bhabha’s concepts. The technique of Textual Analysis has been employed for conducting the study. The model of Kunz that he has made upon the push-pull model of immigration, and Bhabha’s concepts of mimicry, hybridity, ambivalence and liminality design the framework of this study. The framework denotes a process of transformation of refugees which ultimately results in an identity crisis. The findings reveal that the cultural and political conflicts affect the characters’ lives in such a way that they have to move to other lands. They have to live in a different culture and they try to adjust either willingly or forcefully. They become ambivalent and hybrid, and they have to mimic the natives and suffer from an identity crisis. In this way, they lose their recognition, their true self.
