Abstract:

Conceptually, "Brexit" is used to mean the separation of the United Kingdom from the European Union (EU). The partnership relationship between the EU and the United Kingdom that started in 1973 has started to deteriorate over the years due to the fact that the UK has a different political line than the EU and wants to be stronger in the international system. Due to the increasing differences of opinion between the parties in 2015, the United Kingdom decided to leave the EU. The United Kingdom, which held a referendum to leave the EU in 2016, officially left the EU by 2020. Having minimized the partnership relationship with the EU, the UK adopted a new economic relationship model based on broad economic powers with the EU on January 1, 2021.This relationship model is referred to as the "Trade and Cooperation Agreement" model. Since this model gives some rights to the citizens of the parties as well as economic cooperation, can this model be applied between Turkey and the EU? The question has begun to be considered. Therefore, this study we put forward in the context of this question; It discusses whether the future of Turkey-EU relations can be achieved through the UK model. At the same time, the applicability of the UK-EU new relationship model to Turkey-EU relations; It has been evaluated on the axis Turkey-EU relations and EU-UK relations and Brexit process.
