Abstract:

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSS) is the organization/business activities and practices carried out in the framework of the benefit of society. The KSS indicates how the behavior of the institutions has been influenced from the past to the present. In this context, the purpose of the study is to show the process of development and evolution of the concept by studying the KSS literature with a chronological approach. In this context, if we look at the findings of the work, it is clear that in the 1950s did not link the KSS to commercial benefits. In these years, KSS means responsibilities against society in a simple way. In the 1960s and 1970s, it is possible to say that there were small flames that the KSS could be associated with corporate financial performance. In the 1980s, it is possible to say that commercial and social interests have become closer and that companies have become more sensitive to their stakeholders. This approach has also contributed to the development of new KSS definitions by researchers working on the subject. In the 1990s, it appears that the idea of the KSS was approved and accepted by a global understanding and by almost all corporate sections. And finally, in the 2000s, the KSS also integrated with strategic management literature and gained a strategic dimension by taking its place among the key elements of ensuring corporate, social and environmental sustainability.
