SABİT ORTODONTİK TEDAVİ GÖREN HASTALARIN TÜKÜRÜĞÜNDEKİ MUTANS STREPTOKOKLARI VE LAKTOBASİL SEVİYELERİ ÜZERİNE %0.05'LİK NaF'LÜ GARGARANIN ETKİSİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract:

Özet Bu çalışmanın amacı, sabit ortodontik tedavi öncesi ve süresince %0.05'Iik NaF'Iü ağız gargarası kullanmadan önce ve sonra, tükürükteki mutans streptokokları ve laktobasil seviyelerini belirlemektir. Yaşları 12-17 arasında olan 10 bireyin tükürük örnekleri (6 kız, 4 erkek) araştırmanın üç aşamasında incelenmiştir. (1)1. aşama: Motivasyondan 6 hafta sonra parafinle stimüle edilen tükürük örnekleri alınmıştır. (2) 2.aşama: Ortodontik bant, braket ve teller yerleştirildikten 6 hafta sonra aynı işlem tekrarlanmıştır. Bu arada hastalar 1 .aşamadaki ağız hijyeni koruma programına dikkat etmişlerdir. (3) 3.aşama: 2.aşamayı takiben hastalar %0.05'Iik NaF'Iü ağız gargarasını 6 hafta kullanmışlardır. Bu sürenin sonunda parafinle stimüle edilmiş tükürük örnekleri toplanarak tükürük akış hızı, tamponlanıa kapasitesi (Dentobuff, strip-Vivadent), mutans streptokokları (Dencult-SM, Viva-dent) ve laktobasil (Dentocult-LB, Vivadent) seviyeleri belirlenmiştir. İstatistiksel inceleme eşli diziler için Anahtar sözcükler: Sabit ortodontik aparey, %0.05 NaF'Iü ağız gargarası, mutans streptokokları, laktobasil THE EFFECT OF 0.05 %NaF MOUTHRINSE ON SALIVARY MUTANS STREPTOCOCCI AND LACTOBACILLI LEVELS IN ORTHODONTIC PATIENTS Abstract The aim of this investigation was to determine salivary mutans streptococci and Key wors: Fixed orthodontic appliances, NaF 0.05 % mouthrinse, Mutans streptococci, lactohacil.¡actobacilli levels before and during fixed orthodontic therapy and before and after using 0.05% NaF moutiirinse. 10patients (6girls, 4 boys), aged 12 to 17 years were examined in the three stages of orthodontic therapy. (1) First stage: Paraffin-stimulated saliva samples were obtained from all patients before treatment, after 6 weeks on motivation. (2) Second stage: same management was repeated 6 weeks after the placement of orthodontic bands, brackets and wires. In the meanwhile patients were continued their oral hygiene programs on the first stage. (3) Third stage: Following the second stage, patients used 0,05% NaF mouthrinsefor six weeks. At the etui of this stage paraffin-stimulated saliva collected were used in determining tiieflow rate, buffer capacity, (Dentobuff, strip-Vi-vadent), mutans streptococci (Dentocult, SM-Vwadent) and lactobacilli (Dentocult, LB-Vivadent) levels. Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed-banks test was used for statistical analysis. The salivary flow rate was significantly higher in the second and third stage of the investigation (p<0,05). There were no statistically significant differences between the groups in the buffer capacity. While mutans streptococci level increased significantly (p<0.05) after the placement oj orthodontic band, brackets and wires, thereby this level decreased significantly (p<0.05) after using 0.05 % Nal moutiirinse. Same result was found for level of lactobacilli (p<0.05) in the tliird stage oftreament. It is concluded that 0.05 % NaF mouthrinse is an important therapeutic agent in controlling plaque accumulation in orthodontic patients. Wilcoxon nonpar ametrik yöntemle yapılmıştır. Tükürük akış hızı araştırmanın 2. ve 3. aşamasında anlamlı artış (p<0.05) gösterirken, tamponlanıa kapasitesinde her üç aşamada da değişiklik meydana gelmemiştir. Ortodontik bant, braket ve tellerin yerleştirilmesinden sonra mutans streptokokları seviyesinde anlamlı yükselme olurken (p<0.05) %0.05'lik NaF'Iü ağız gargası kullanımından sonra anlamlı düşme görülmüştür (p<0.05). Üçüncü aşamada laktobasil seviyesinde de (p<0.05) anlamlı azalma meydana gelmiştir. Sonuç olarak %0.05'lik NaF'Iü ağız gargarasının, ortodonti hastalarında plak birikimini kontrol altına alan önemli bir terapötik ajan olduğu belirlenmiştir.
