Özet:

Objectives: In the world and in our country; With the increase in the elderly population and the prolonged life expectancy, some patients may need health care in their environment. The practice of home health care is gaining importance with the increasing elderly population. The aim of this study was to evaluate the service provided by the home health care unit within a training and research hospital to its registered patients in 2018. Materials and Methods: In this cross - sectional study, the services received by the Home Health Care Unit within the Ankara Atatürk Training and Research Hospital, between January 1 - December 31, 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. The data is transferred to Microsoft Office Excel and their frequency is presented as numbers and percentage. Results: A total of 1538 patients were included in the study. Of these, 35% were women (n=536) and 65% (n=1002) were women. The 3 most common services are; with 87.90% taking blood sample, 85.89% with training/counselling and 83.15% examination. In 2018, 450 of the registered patients started to receive services from the home health care unit. When we look at the new patient record in monthly slices; an average of 14.9 new men and 22.5 new women are given home health care services every month. Conclusion: Today, home health care services within the hospitals meet an important need. In order to make the service more efficient, home health care units should be supported by the related medical branches. In addition to this, it is important that the hospital administration and the Ministry of Health are sensitive and relevant to the needs of the home health care teams and in the various problems in the provision of the service.
