Abstract:

Spring, the representative of the youth and love, has been one of the common subjects widely discussed in classical literature. Although the genres that take spring as their subjects are called “bahariye”, “bahar-name” and “rebiiyye”, the name most cited for this genre is “bahariye”. The spring poems (bahariye) were written as the transition parts sering as the preface of the poems, they, however, are also written independently as ghazels or other forms of verses. In the spring poems the matters concerning the spring, coming of the spring, the changes in the nature that comes with the spring and the effects of these changes on the human beings are mentioned. An important poet of the 17th century, Şeyhülislam Yahya Efendi, in his collected poems handled the topic spring with a rich imagination. In this study from the collected poems of Şeyhülislam Yahya Efendi’s a total of 10 poems, of which 1 is eulogy and 9 are ghazels, are tried to be evaluated paying attention to the characteristics of the genres
