Carpet, kilim and the other textiles are traditional art of Turkmen- Yoruks’, which answer their need. That was the same in Ottoman principality. While the principality transformed to an empire, it set up a kind of organization to answer the palace’s needs. There were different kinds of artists in that organization, as well as decorators. In the course of time they have added “Kalice Bafan-ı Hassa”organization who made silk prayer rugs. It is believed that they were living in “Kaliceciler” region which is at Fatih Halıcılar Street today. At 19th century, as a result of palace’s needs over again, Feshane and Hereke Factory were set up to answer their needs
