Due to changes in dietary patterns, the actions to healthy eating and physical activity are the main focus for the prevention of obesity and comorbidities. The main objective of the study was to evaluate the nutritional status and dietary habits of children and adolescents overweight before and after nutritional intervention. This was an intervention study with 171 children and adolescents with overweight and / or obesity between 2 to 18 years, of both sexes who received nutritional intervention for six months. It showed low consumption of fruits and vegetables and high consumption of processed food. There was no significant difference in improving the nutritional status of children and adolescents, but there was reduced daily calorie intake after six months. The results suggest that persistence in nutritional intervention can improve eating habits, emphasizing the importance of nutritional care associated with family support for successful treatment of obesity and reducing the risk of comorbidities.
