Abstract:

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of omega-3 use in pregnancy on the formation of stria gravidarum. Method: This prospective phenomenon control study included 201 primigravid pregnancies with at least 4 antenatal tracking in the first trimester between 2020 and 2021. The pregnancies in the study were grouped according to the medications they used (multivitamines, those who use multivitamines along with Omega-3s and those who use irregular medications). The woman’s age, education level, weight gained during pregnancy, additional diseases, medications she used, the baby’s birth pounds were recorded. Pregnancy tracking was carried out and the birth was in the same center for patients in the 24th hour after birth in the 4 areas of the body (belly, neck, basin and breast) stria gravidarums atwal and ark. according to the criteria determined. Results: 1 of 201 women surveyed had severe stria scores. Stria gravidarum in approximately 1/3 of patients (26.9%) began between the 21-24 weeks of pregnancy. There was a significant difference between the SG scores of pregnancies using regular vitamins (p<0,001). In women who use vitamin drugs irregularly, the SG score was higher than in women who use regular medications. The SG score was increased with young age, overweight gain during pregnancy and early-started stria formation. There was no meaningful relationship between the baby’s weight and the SG score (p>0,05). The result: According to the results of our study, a regular multivitamin along with Omega-3 reduces the formation of stria gravidarum.
