ÜNİVERSİTE TOPLUM İLİŞKİSİNDE POPÜLER KÜLTÜRÜN YÜKSELİŞİ

Abstract:

Bu çalışma girişimci üniversite anlayışının üniversite fikri üzerinde hegemonik hale gelmesi sonucu üniversite niteliğinin ontolojik, epistemolojik ve iletişimsel varlığının dönüşümü üzerine odaklanarak üniversitenin popüler kültür ideolojisine nasıl eklemlendiğini göstermeye çalışmaktadır. Yüksek öğretim alanının neoliberal politikalar neticesinde girişimci bir ruhla kuşatılması sonucu üniversiteyi tanımlayan geleneksel kodlar dönüşüm geçirmiş ve “üniversite fikri” şirket ideolojisini taşıyan yeni bir görünüm kazanmıştır. Verimlilik, rekabet, projecilik anlayışına dayanan girişimci üniversite anlayışı üniversitenin piyasaya eklemlenmesi anlamına gelirken üniversitenin piyasanın taleplerine göre yapılanmasını da ifade etmektedir. Bunun yanında şirket aklının üniversitelere transfer edilmesi beraberinde nitelik kaybını yaratmış ve bir yönüyle de üniversitenin popüler kültür ile kuşatılmasına neden olmuştur. Özellikle vakıf üniversiteleri bünyesinde popüler kültür, yüksek kültür değeri olarak kucaklanmaya başlanmış ve görünürlük faaliyetleri adına popüler kültür göstergeleri üniversitenin toplumla ilişkisinde merkezi konuma yerleşmiştir. Bu çerçevede bu çalışma girişimci üniversite ekseninde yükseköğetim literatürü içinden üniversite-toplum ilişkisinin iletişim süreçlerine odaklanarak yükseköğretim alanının gittikçe popüler kültür ideolojisiyle sarmalandığını göstermeye çalışmaktadır.

This study attempts to show how the entrepreneurial understanding of the university becomes hegemonic on the university idea, focusing on the transformation of the ontological, epistemological and communicative existence of the university’s character and how the university is added to the popular cultural ideology. As a result of the enclosure of the field of higher education with an entrepreneurial spirit as a result of neoliberal policies, the traditional codes that define the university have transformed and the "university idea" has gained a new appearance that carries the corporate ideology. The entrepreneurial university concept based on the understanding of efficiency, competitiveness, projectility means the incorporation of the university into the market while the university is also made according to the demand of the market. In addition, the transfer of the corporate mind to universities has caused the loss of qualifications and in a way has caused the university to be surrounded by popular culture. Specifically within the foundation universities, popular culture has begun to be embraced as a high cultural value and popular cultural indicators in the name of visibility activities have placed the central position in the relationship of the university with the society. In this framework, this study entrepreneur attempts to show that the field of higher education is increasingly embraced with the popular cultural ideology by focusing on the communication processes of the university-community relationship from the university axis to the literature of higher education.

This study tries to show how the university is articulated to the popular culture ideology by focusing on the transformation of the ontological, epistemological and communicative existence of the university quality as a result of the entrepreneurial university understanding becoming hegemonic over the idea of university. As a result of the encirclement of the higher education field with an entrepreneurial spirit as a result of neoliberal policies, the traditional codes that define the university have been transformed and the "idea of university" has gained a new appearance with the corporate ideology. Entrepreneurial university understanding based on efficiency, competition and project management means the articulation of the university with the market, while it also expresses the structuring of the university according to the demands of the market. In addition, the transfer of the corporate mind to the universities has created a loss of qualifications and in a way caused the university to be surrounded by popular culture. Popular culture has begun to be embraced as a high cultural value, especially within foundation universities, and popular culture indicators have become central in the university's relationship with society in the name of visibility activities. In this context, this study tries to show that the field of higher education is increasingly surrounded by popular culture ideology by focusing on the communication processes of the university-society relationship within the higher education literature on the axis of the entrepreneurial university.
