Abstract:

Divanü Lugati't-Türk is an encyclopedic dictionary found in the main sources of Turkish language and literature in terms of the language material it contains, which is of great importance for Turkish philology, history, folklore and geography. The words given meaning in order order in the work, notably, have a very special importance for the Turkish ads; the various branches of the Turkish culture, which enable the understanding of the ancient Turkish world and the various fronts of the assembly to the present day, have been expressed with the general lines of the many social, economic, ethnological, folkloric, geographical, etc. elements. In this study, the Turkish geographical terms, which form a specific terminological dictionary among the terminologies defined in Divanü Lugati't-Türk, were studied, and the ancient geographical terms used by the Turkish people were made an ethymological and morphological explanation on some terms. These terms are of great importance in the understanding of the toponyms (e.g. the oronyms relating to the names of mountains, mountains, backs, and the hydrons relating to the names of the river, the tea, the river, etc.) in terms of Turkish ads.
