Cities, which adopt the vision of Smart City and build investments and plans in this direction, should establish a strong city digital infrastructure. Digital infrastructure components include strong and accurate measuring points (sensors, etc.), common and advanced communication networks, and sustainable and efficient infrastructure services. In the continuously developing communication network ecosystem, wireless communication technologies are also used intensively together with wired communication technologies (fiber, copper, etc.). In the cities, generally “Short Range Wireless Communication Technologies (BLE, Zigbee etc.)”, “Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) Wireless Communication Technologies (NB-IoT, Lora etc.)” and “Cellular Communication Technologies (3G, 4G, 5G etc.)” are used very common. Especially, considering low power consumption, bidirectional and long range communication capability, it is very easy to say that, LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) communication protocols will grow up rapidly in the short term. However, it is very important to choose best communication technology by considering correct parameters which are specific for the smart city to manage digital infrastructure process effective.
