Özel Yetenekli Öğrencilerin Yürütücü İşlev Becerilerinin Çeşitli Değişkenler Açısından İncelenmesi

Abstract:

Bu çalışmanın amacı, özel yetenekli öğrencilerin yürütücü işlev becerileri kapsamında; dikkat, özellik belirleme, perseverasyon, kavramsallaştırma, soyut düşünme, çalışma belleği ve planlama becerilerini çeşitli değişkenler açısından incelemektir. Araştırmada, tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. İstanbul ili, Bahçelievler BİLSEM’de eğitim gören, devlet (61 öğrenci) ve özel okulda (58 öğrenci) 7. sınıfına devam eden (61 kız, 58 erkek) toplamda 119 özel yetenekli öğrenci araştırmaya katılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri ‘Wisconsin Kart Eşleme Testi (WKET)’, ‘D2 Dikkat Testi’ ve ‘İstanbul 5 Küp Planlama Kulesi Testi (İ5KPK)’ aracılığıyla elde edilmiştir. Veriler öğrencilerin cinsiyetine, öğrenim gördükleri okul türüne ve BİLSEM’de Özel Yetenekleri Geliştirme Programı’nda seçtikleri derse göre incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda; WKET puanları özel yetenekli öğrencilerin cinsiyet değişkenine göre farklılaşmazken, okul türü ve seçilen ders değişkenine göre farklılaşmıştır. WKET’e göre; devlet okulunda okuyan öğrenciler özel okullarda okuyan öğrencilerden daha fazla hata (yinelenmeyen şekilde) yapmışlardır. Diğer taraftan özel okulda okuyan öğrencilerin kavramsal düzeyde tepki yüzdeleri daha yüksektir.  İngilizce ve Sayısal dersleri seçen öğrencilerin testteki doğru sayısı daha fazladır. Kavramsal düzey tepki yüzdesinin İngilizce ve Sözel dersleri seçen öğrencilerde daha yüksek olduğu görülmüştür. D2 Dikkat Testi sonuçlarına göre; erkek öğrencilerin test performans yüzdesi kız öğrencilere kıyasla daha yüksektir. İstanbul 5 Küp Planlama Kulesi Testi puanları cinsiyet ve okul türü değişkenine göre farklılaşmazken, seçilen ders değişkenine göre farklılık göstermiştir. Planlama testinde sayısal dersi seçen öğrencilerin daha fazla doğru yanıt verdikleri görülmüştür. WKET, D2 Dikkat Testi ve İ5KPK testleri arasında anlamlı ilişkiler tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar ışığında özel yetenekli öğrencilerin yürütücü işlevleri, dikkat ve planlama becerilerinin ilişkili olduğu söylenebilir.

Examination of the Executive Function Skills of Special Talented Students in terms of Different Variables

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the attention, character determination, perseverance, conceptualization, abstract thinking, work memory and planning skills in terms of various variables. In the research, the screening model was used. Istanbul, Bahçelievler BILSEM, State (61 students) and private school (58 students) continuing 7th class (61 girls, 58 men) in total 119 special skilled students participated in the research. The data of the study was obtained through the 'Wisconsin Card Passing Test (WKET)', 'D2 Attention Test' and 'Istanbul 5 Cube Planning Tower Test (I5KPK)'. The data was studied according to the gender of students, the type of school they studied and the course they chose in the Special Skills Development Program in BILSEM. The study found that the WKET scores did not differ according to the gender variable of special skilled students, while the scores did not differ according to the school type and the chosen course variable. According to WKET, students studying in public schools have made more mistakes than students studying in private schools. On the other hand, the percentage of reaction on the conceptual level of students studying in private schools is higher.  The correct number of students who choose English and Numerical courses in the test is greater. The percentage of conceptual level reaction has been seen to be higher in students who choose English and Verbal courses. D2 Attention Test results; the test performance percentage of male students is higher than the girl students. Istanbul 5 Coup Planning Tower Test scores don't differ according to gender and school type variable, while the chosen course variable has been different. In the planning test, the students who chose the number lessons were shown to give more correct answers. There have been significant relationships between WKET, D2 Attention Test and I5KPK Tests. In light of the achieved results, it can be said that the executive functions, attention and planning skills of special skilled students are related.

Investigation Of Executive Function Skills Of Gifted Students According To Various Variables

The aim of this study, within the scope of executive function skills of gifted students; to examine attention, feature identification, perseveration, conceptualization, abstract thinking, working memory and planning skills in terms of various variables. In the research, scanning model was used. The study was conducted with a total of 119 gifted students (61 girls, 58 boys) attending the 7th grade in public (61 students) and private school (58 students) in Bahçelievler BİLSEM in Istanbul. The data of the research were obtained through the 'Wisconsin Card Matching Test (WKET)', 'D2 Attention Test' and 'Istanbul 5 Cube Planning Tower Test (İ5KPK)'. The data were analyzed according to the gender of the students, the type of school they attended and the course they chose in the Special Talent Development Program at BİLSEM. As a result of the research; While WCST scores did not differ according to the gender variable of gifted students, they did differ according to the type of school and the chosen course variable. According to WKET; students in public schools made more mistakes (non-repetitively) than students in private schools. On the other hand, the percentages of reaction at the conceptual level of the students studying in private schools were higher. Students who chose English and Quantitative courses had a higher number of correct answers on the test. It was observed that the percentage of conceptual level response was higher in students who chose English and Verbal courses. According to the results of the D2 Attention Test; test performance percentage of male students is higher than that of female students. While Istanbul 5 Cube Planning Tower Test scores did not differ according to gender and school type variable, they differed according to the selected course variable. It was observed that the students who chose the numerical course in the planning test gave more correct answers. Significant relationships were found between WCST, D2 Attention Test and I5KPK tests. In the light of the results obtained, it can be said that the executive functions, attention and planning skills of the gifted students are related.
