Sosyoloji tarihçiliğinde 1970’lerde başlayan yeni eğilimlere paralel olarak tartışma merkezli okumalar da yaygınlaşmıştır. Sosyologlar arası ayrışmaları gündeme getiren bu ilişkisel yaklaşım, bugünden bakıldığında ilginç görünen somut tarihsel tartışmaları merkeze alarak araştırmacıyı anakronizm ve tarih için tarih anlayışından korur. Unutulmuş isimlerin katkılarını ortodoks sosyoloji anlatısına dahil etmeye ve taraflar arasındaki konumlanmalar/süreklilikler üzerinden sosyoloji topografyasını daha net bir biçimde ortaya koymaya katkı sağlar. Türk sosyoloji tarihi de tartışmalar açısından zengindir. 1890’larda başlayıp II. Meşrutiyet’te yoğunlaşan siyasete, iktisada, hukuka, kültüre, eğitime ilişkin “sosyoloji öncesi tartışmalar”ı 1930’lardan itibaren kültür-medeniyet tartışması gibi “sosyolojik tartışmalar” takip etmiştir. Osmanlı’dan Cumhuriyet’e devreden toplumsal yapıya ilişkin tartışmalarsa özellikle 1960’larda yaygınlaşmış ve sosyal bilimciler arasında çeşitli ayrışma ve kümeleşmeleri gündeme getirmiştir. Bu araştırma, 1962’de Yön’de Cahit Tanyol ile Behice Boran arasında gerçekleşen tartışma örneğinden hareketle Türk sosyoloji tarihini tartışmalar üzerinden okumayı amaçlamaktadır. Tartışmayı oluşturan metinler, tarafların temel ayrışma noktaları ile Türk sosyoloji tarihindeki halef ve seleflerine odaklanılarak çözümlenmeye çalışılmaktadır.
Parallel to the new trends in sociology history in the 1970s, discussion-centered readings have also spread. This relational approach, which sets out the divisions between sociologists, takes the center of the actual, interesting, concrete historical discussions, protecting the researcher from anacronism and the understanding of history for history. It contributes to the inclusion of the contributions of forgotten names into the Orthodox sociology narrative and to the more clear explanation of the sociology topography through the locations/continuities between the parties. The history of Turkish sociology is also rich in terms of discussion. Started in 1890 and II. The "pre-socialist discussions" on politics, economics, law, culture, and education, which focused on legitimacy, followed "socialist discussions" since the 1930s, such as cultural-civilization discussions. The discussions on the social structure that passed from the Ottoman to the Republic, especially in the 1960s, spread and brought various divisions and aggregations to the agenda among social scientists. This study aims to read the history of Turkish sociology through discussions, taking the example of the discussion between Cahit Tanyol and Behice Boran in Yön in 1962. The texts that make up the debate are attempted to be resolved by focusing on the main divisions of the parties and their successors and predecessors in the Turkish sociology history.
