Abstract:

The Turkish nation has a determined and innovative structure in preserving and maintaining its social values, depending on its traditions from history to today. Transferring all kinds of values, including the social, cultural, economic, religious, aesthetic, political, and scientific structures of a nation, to the young generation through education is important for the creation of a healthy society. In this study, the tales of Cyprus and Elazig were examined in terms of values education; the tale texts in the books were evaluated and the expressions related to the values directly or implicitly were determined. Values in the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) values classification were examined using the ward's connection (smallest variance) method. Only “social-societal and scientific-innovative" values were examined among all values such as conservative-traditional, national-public, self-centered-personal, social-societal, scientific-innovative. Values in the analyzed texts were classified under 12 headings and presented through tables. In the study, “social-social and scientific-innovative” values were determined in 141 Cyprus tales and 70 Elazig tales. While social-societal values are included 129 times and scientific-innovative values 36 times in Cyprus fairy tales; it was seen that social-societal values were included 83 times and scientific-innovative values were included 24 times in Elazig tales.
