Bu çalışmanın amacı, Irak Savaşının ardından Irak’ta ve bölge coğrafyasında görülen değişimi açıklamak ve anlamak için literatüre katkı sağlamaktır. Çalışma, Irak Savaşıyla beraber Irak ve bölge coğrafyasında yaşanan radikalleşmenin bölge güvenliğine etkilerini ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda bu çalışma, Irak Savaşı sonrasında Irak’ın yeniden yapılanmasındaki uygulamaları incelemeyi amaçlayarak, söylem analizi ve literatür taramasından yararlanmıştır. Dönemin siyasi isimlerinin Irak’ın işgali ve sonrasındaki gelişmelere dair anıları, görüşleri ve gerçekleştirdikleri mülakatları incelenmiş, Irak’ta İkinci Körfez Savaşı ile Nuri El-Maliki’nin Başbakanlık dönemi arasındaki süreçte Sünni gruplarda meydana gelen radikalleşmenin nedenleri sorgulanmıştır. Çalışmanın temel iddiası, Irak Savaşı’nın bölgedeki radikal unsurların artışında büyük etkiye sahip olduğu; Irak’ta uygulanmak istenilen demokrasinin ülke içerisindeki Sünni ve Şii gruplar arasında ayrım oluşturduğu; siyasi istikrarsızlığın Irak’ın ekonomisinde, eğitiminde, sağlık sisteminde olumsuz etkilere neden olduğu ve radikalleşen bölgede göç ve mülteci krizlerinin artmış olduğudur.
The aim of this study is to contribute to literature to explain and understand the changes seen in Iraq and the region's geography after the Iraq War. The study aims to reveal the effects of radicalization in Iraq and the region, along with the Iraq War, on the security of the region. In this context, this study, aimed at examining the practices in the reconstruction of Iraq after the Iraq War, took advantage of speech analysis and literature scan. The memories, opinions and interviews of the political names of the period on the occupation of Iraq and its subsequent developments have been examined, and the reasons for the radicalization that occurred in the Sunni groups in Iraq between the Second Gulf War and Nuri El-Maliki's Prime Minister's period have been questioned. The main claim of the study is that the war in Iraq has a great impact on the rise of radical elements in the region; that the democracy that is intended to be implemented in Iraq is a distinction between the Sunni and Shiite groups within the country; that political instability has a negative impact on the economy, education, healthcare system in Iraq, and that the increased migration and refugee crises in the radicalized region.
