Türkçe dünyanın en eski ve tarihî dillerinden biridir. Dilin iç ve dış tarihi açısından Türkçenin tarihsel süreci çeşitli kitaplarda incelenmiştir. Ancak Türk dilinin tarihini konu alan kitaplar dilin tarihine göre oldukça yenidir. İlk Türk Dili Tarihi kitabını Ahmet Caferoğlu yazmıştır. İkincisini Ahmet Bican Ercilasun kaleme almıştır. Üçüncü kitabı ise Ali Akar yazmıştır. Bu çalışmada adı geçen üç kitap da dilin dış ve iç tarihine ilişkin bilgiler ve iki izleksel konu açısından karşılaştırılmış ve sonuçta Ahmet Caferoğlu’nun eserinin hala değerini koruduğu, Ercilasun’un kitabının dilin iç tarihi açısından daha ayrıntılı olduğu, Akar’ın çalışmasının ise güncel duruma daha çok önem ve yer vermek bakımından özgün nitelikler taşıdığı belirlenmiştir.
Turkish is one of the oldest and most historical languages in the world. Historical process of Turkish has been studied in various books from the perspective internal and external of the language. But, these books concerning the history of Turkish language are quite new than the history of this language. The first History of Turkish Language book was written by Ahmet Caferoğlu, the second one by Ahmet Bican Ercilasun, and the third one by Ali Akar. In this paper, these three books were compared within the perspective of informations concerning the internal and external history of the language and two issues; and finally It has been identified that, Ahmet Caferoğlu's work still preserves its value, Ercilasun's book is more detailed in terms of the internal history of language, and Akar's work has original characteristics in terms of giving more importance and place to the current situation.
