Abstract:

The aim of this research is to study the career developments of elementary 7th and 8th grade students in terms of parent support and socio-demographic variables. The research data was collected from 1288 students who were studying in the 7th and 8th classes of primary education in the Kâhta district of Adyaman in the 2017-2018 educational year. In the collection of data, “Personal Information Form”. The "Child Career Development Scale" and "Parental Career Support Scale" have been used. The research finds that girls’ knowledge, curiosity, control focus, time perspective, self-concept, verbal encouragement and emotional support scores are significantly higher than men’s students, while men’s students have higher levels of key figure and career modeling. When studied according to the class level, the level of knowledge and control focus in the 8th class was significantly higher than the 7th class students; the 7th class students also found the level of vehicle assistance higher. According to the type of high school, the highest points are seen in the form of science, Anadolu/Imam Hatip, Professional High School, respectively. The highest scores for the latest school to be completed are achieved by the doctorate, master's, bachelor's, pre-graduate and high school results respectively.
