Each food item used in infant nutrition should have a secure basis and must not harm the baby’s health. In some rare cases where breast milk cannot be given, specialised milk formulas are used. In order to provide optimum standards and prevent nutrient deficiencies, the production and the delivery of these products are standardized by the Codex Alimentarius. For the provision of safe and adequate nutrition for infants by the protection and promotion of breastfeeding and by ensuring the proper use of breast-milk substitutes when necessary on the basis of adequate information and through appropriate marketing and distribution, the World Health Organization and UNICEF have published the “the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes” in 1981. In this paper, current situation of infant formulas in unnatural infant feeding, formula types and standards for the marketing and usage of these products have been discussed
