Abstract:

People have been exposed to pandemic epidemics in certain periods of history. They were able to take measures against these epidemics and continue their lives. Today, the epidemic continues to threaten the residents of the global village. People have left their normal life conditions behind with the Covid-19 epidemic. They have taken summarized measures in the form of social distance, masks and hygiene and created new conditions of life. Kovid-19, is seen to affect many areas, from social life to educational life. The aim of this study is to reveal the perceptions of teachers candidates studying in the field of social information education to the concept of "social distance". The research was conducted using the methods of quality. The work group consists of 126 participants who studied in the 2019-2020 academic year at the Bayburt Education Faculty Social Information Education Anabolic Department. Participants' perceptions of the concept of "social distance" were gathered through a semi-structured conversation form. The data obtained from the participants was analyzed by content analysis. The participants have produced a total of 81 current metaphors about the concept of social distance. These metaphors are collected in 5 different categories. The study found that the participants expressed the concept of social distance in a general positive sense, although the vocabulary meanings are negative. The concept of social distance has been defined as more protective, hopeful and healing. Again, the conclusion was that participants expressed the concept of social distance as a perception of disappointment and disappointment that calls negative as in the vocabulary sense.
