In today’ life, with the rapid change in communication technologies, internet technologies, which are an effective tool in almost all areas of social life, point to a very effective area in the lives of individuals and societies. The communication style, which includes elements such as access to information, increased communication between people and the interaction provided by these tools, is defined as new media . In this study, while dwelling on the features of new media, the discussions on the concept of digital transformation will be discussed. Individuals’ presence in the digital environment means having multiple identities in physical and virtual environments. Along with digital transformation opportunities, unlike traditional mass media, there are great changes in the usage patterns and usage rates of internet-based social media platforms. Individuals are present in social media. He/She socializes, shares and especially communicates with other people or groups, regardless of location. This study specifically focuses on the intergenerational use of social media usage practices. In the first part of the study, the development process of new media will be emphasized and the relevant literature will be reviewed on the concept of social media, and then the concept of generation and the field writing on the grouping of generations will be examined. Within the framework of the questions of the study, it was aimed to analyze the social media users on Facebook pages with the method of content analysis within the scope of intergenerational social media usage practices.
