The study conducted in order to identify the conceptual errors related to the unit of the 5th class students "Let's Travel and Know the World of Animals" was conducted in the 2014-2015 educational year. 226 students from three different schools participated in this study. In the study, the methods of karma research are applied; qualitative data is obtained from semi-structured conversations, and quantitative data is obtained from the three-step conceptual diagnosis test. The data obtained from the concept diagnosis test is evaluated by the application prepared in Microsoft Excel. Thus, students have identified both the conceptual errors and the subjects they lack knowledge. The study found a total of 40 conceptual errors related to 12 of the 23 questions in the diagnosis test. The conceptual errors identified as a result of an individual interview with 49 students have shown similarity to the conceptual errors obtained in the diagnosis test. Although some of the detected conceptual errors are parallel to the studies in literature, the result of this study has also identified conceptual errors that have not previously been revealed in relation to the unit. The fact that educators take into account these conceptual errors when developing curriculum designs, will contribute to the students who will learn the subjects "Recognize the Animals" and "Human and Environment Relationships" to more properly structure these concepts in their minds.
