Dış dünyada var olan sayısız varlığın, kendilerini diğerlerinden ayıracak bir adı bulunmalıdır. Bir dil, sınırsız sayıdaki varlığa ad bulma konusunda temelde sesleri kullanır. Ancak bir dilin üretebileceği ses sayısının 45-50 dolayında olduğu bilinmektedir. Bu durumda dil, bünyesindeki sınırlı sayıdaki seslerden sınırsız sayıdaki kavrama ad bulma sorunuyla karşı karşıya kalır. Dil, bu sorun karşısında farklı yollara başvurur. Eski Türkçe döneminin her üç evresinde de tanıklanan ör kök biçimi, sözü edilen bu soruna karşı Türk dilinin kullandığı yöntemlerden kimilerinin görülebilmesi için açık bir örnektir. Çünkü ör kök biçimi öncelikle bir sesteş kök niteliğindedir. Hem ör adı hem de ör- fiili birden çok anlamı karşılamaktadır. Ör- fiilinin dokuz farklı anlamı karşılamasının yanında kimi tanıklamalarda mecazî bir anlatıma sahip olması ayrıca dikkat çekicidir. Bu durum, Türk dilinin daha o dönemden karşılaştığı sorunlara çözüm bulma konusundaki yeteneklerini gözler önüne sermektedir. Dahası Türk dilinin anlatım gücünü, anlamsal bağlantı çeşitliliğini, mecazlaşma ve soyutlama kapasitesini tanıklayan ör kök biçimi, etimolojisi konusunda belirsizlikler bulunan kimi gövde biçimin kaynağı konumundadır. Yapılan bu çalışmada ilk olarak ör kök biçiminin karşıladığı anlamlar, Eski Türkçenin söz varlığındaki tanıklamalarıyla sunularak ortaya konulacaktır. Daha sonrasında ise ör adı ve ör- fiilinden türediği değerlendirilen gövde biçimler, bünyesindeki eklerle birlikte gösterilecektir. Böylece etimolojisi konusunda tartışmalar bulunan kimi türemiş sözcüklere de etimolojik öneriler getirilmiş olacaktır.

In this case, the language is faced with the problem of finding an unlimited number of concepts from a limited number of sounds within it. The language applies to different ways in the face of this problem. The corneal form, which is witnessed in the three stages of the ancient Turkish era, is a clear example of how some of the methods used by the Turkish language against this question can be seen. In this study, the meanings that the corner form first will be met will be revealed by the testimony in the existence of the ancient Turkish word. After that, the name and the forms of the body that are derived from the name and the form of the body will be shown along with the additions in the body. Thus, some of the words derived from the ethymology discussions will also be brought to ethymological recommendations.
