Abstract:

A social and cultural reflection of societies is important verbal source legends where truth or dream sometimes encounters in a common part. The myth corresponds to stories that mean a word, a fairy tale, a story or a legend. In our culture, there are many legends and myths that have been transmitted verbally through generations from Central Asia to the Anatolian territory to the present day. Legends and myths are literary narratives of the imagination, which contains the view of society’s life, the way of life, the moral understanding, the values it glorifies, the traces of hundreds and even thousands of years, which are transmitted from generation to generation in the public life and which never lose the characteristic of experience. The legends and myths in the Turkish Mythology, which are important elements of our verbal culture, have been influenced by many of our artists today and have used these elements in their works. Our artist Ahmet GÜNEŞTEKIN has combined these elements from the land of this geography he lives in his works and is very well-known, with the works of the legends and myths in the written and verbal stories of the Turkish Mythology, which are part of the rich folk tradition of Anadolu. In addition, our artist has presented its own designs with a contemporary contents of art from these elements. In our work we will try to interpret by analyzing our artist Ahmet GÜNEŞTEKIN’s seven works with the symbols, symbols and stories he uses in the popular culture of Anadolu and many elements in the Turkish mythology.
