Abstract:

Following the Cyprus Peace Movement and the announcement of the KTFD, the talks between the Cyprus Turkish people and the Romans have been ongoing for 44 years, but no positive outcome has been obtained. It is not possible to get a positive outcome from the talks because the expectations of the Romans and Turks are different from the talks. Cypriot Turks, ignoring the massacres they have been exposed in the past and agree to unite with the Roms under a two-regional federal structure based on political equality with good intention, while the Roms Turks linked themselves in the status of minority to the whole of the Cyprus island by taking away the right of guarantee of Turkey and in the next step towards the goal of linking the candidate to Greece (ENOSIS). In this study, the people of the Republic of Turkey and the Northern Cyprus Turkish Republic (KKTC) have been attempted to illuminate the talks between the Cypriot Turks and the Romans from the establishment to the present day and the expectations of the parties from the talks and the results that can be achieved in the talks. In the entry section of the study, the history and importance of the Cyprus island and the process passed to the establishment of the KTFD were given a summary of the events between the two communities in the island, the following sections were the establishment of the KKTC, the application of the Roms for the EU, the events in the EU process and the imposition of the Annan Plan, the end of the Denktaş period, the talks held with the GKRY in the period of Mehmet Ali Talat, Derviş Eroğlu and Mustafa Akıncı were examined in separate sections and the results achieved in the result section of the study were evaluated.
