Abstract:

Self-audit, with the professional rules created by journalists, is again the journalist’s self-control system. The objective of the audit is to ensure that the profession becomes more respected and reliable and to try to minimize the state’s press intervention. Thus, the press will become a professional organization that uses its rights and freedoms without interference within its boundaries.The compliance of the established principles is controlled by the Press Council. The most important and effective body of the self-audit system is the Press Council. The Press Council, which brings together journalists and people from certain sections of society, ensures the development and effectiveness of self-audit.The purpose of the Press Council is to prevent any negative effects arising through the press-publication. Thus, he tries to solve problems in himself without any external intervention. It is a matter of discussion whether the press council created for the purpose of developing the self-audit system in Turkey is effective. Press Profession Principles will focus on the impact in the field of the system that is trying to increase effectiveness.The subject of the article is co-audit and the Press Council is formed. What the concept of self-audit is, the history of the Press Council and the current situation will be assessed.
