Before the application of Turkey to join the European Economic Community (EEC) in 1959 and the Ankara Treaty signed in 1963, the topic of the AEC, which did not have a sufficient place in the agenda of Turkey, especially after 1963, entered the country’s agenda permanently. But the fact that this unique formation in Europe is not well understood by both the people and the politicians in Turkey has brought many problems in relationships. The study will also take into account this argument, and between 1959 and 1990 the EU opposition in Turkey will be examined on an economic, political, sovereign, historical, religious, cultural and nationalist basis. In addition, the opposition to the double standard that the EU applies against Turkey and the reactive approach against the EU and the EU membership process in Turkey are among the topics that will be discussed in the study.
