Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the metaphors that high school students and their teachers have developed about the book concept. In this study, one of the qualitative research methods was used. Study 2018-2019 Education-Teaching Year II. During the period, 231 students and 61 teachers attended a secondary school and a secondary school located within the borders of the Istanbul Hunting and the district of Küçükçekmece. Students and teachers’ metafores for the concept of “book” are developed by the content analysis method. The analysis of the obtained data consists of the transmission and extraction of documents to the electronic environment, the classification of metaphors and reasons, the development of conceptual categories, validity and reliability studies and the phases of quantitative data analysis. The study included 118 high school and secondary school students, while 42 metaphors were developed. 42 metaphors developed by the teacher on the concept of the book were gathered under 6 conceptual categories, while 118 metaphors developed by the students were gathered under 5 conceptual categories.
