There is no doubt that one of the most attractive concepts in social sciences in recent years is populism. The number of theoretical, empirical, methodological and comparative studies on the concept increases from day to day. Although it is a controversial concept, it is still an agreed aspect on populism that it puts the direct communication in the forefront without a corporate reason as a way of communication. As a result of the decreased impact of the structures that the liberal democracy sees as means of organizations on the relationship between the leaders and their followers, the leaders pay more attention to the poll and public disturbances in terms of political communication when presenting themselves as the voice of the ordinary people. In today’s social context, which was considered populist times, politics is established as a continuous campaign, and the survey and public abuse appear as a hegemonic means of this kind of communication. This study tends to use the survey of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in political processes in the context of the example of Turkey. In the study it is stated that this kind of communication is very appropriate to the current political conditions established as a continuous campaign and to the popularist leadership style that is considered to be increasing by Erdogan and to the conception of plebisite democracy.
