Turizm ekolojik, ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel bir olgudur. Bu olgunun doğası gereği turizm faaliyetleri gerçekleştirildiği bölgenin ya da yörenin söz konusu özellikleri kapsamında şekillenir, değerlendirilir ve gelişir. Turizmin gelişmesi sosyal ve kültürel anlamda genel olarak olumlu etkiler yaratırken, kalkınma faaliyetlerine bağlı olarak şekillenen ekonomik çıkarlar ekolojik olarak olumsuz sonuçlara neden olabilmektedir. Turizmin doğal ve kültürel kaynaklar üzerindeki olumsuz etkilerinin azaltılması ve turizm faaliyetlerinin sürdürülebilir olması gerçekleştirildiği alanlardaki turizm potansiyelinin irdelenmesi ile mümkün olabilir. Bu gerekçe ile çalışmanın amacı Kütahya ilinin turizm potansiyelinin coğrafi bilgi sistemleri kullanılarak belirlenmesidir. Çalışmada turizm potansiyeli haritaları eğim, bakı, yükseklik gibi doğal veriler ile arazi kullanımı, ulaşım ve altyapı gibi kültürel veriler birlikte analiz edilerek oluşturulmuş ve turizm faaliyetleri için uygun alanlar doğal ve kültürel peyzaj potansiyeli bağlamında irdelenmiştir. Turizm potansiyeli haritalarının oluşturulmasında ArcMap 10.6 programından yararlanılmıştır.
Tourism is an ecological, economic, social and cultural phenomenon. Due to the nature of this phenomenon, tourism activities are formed, evaluated and developed within the respective characteristics of the area or place where tourism activities are carried out. While the development of tourism generally has positive social and cultural effects, economic interests formed by development activities can lead to ecologically negative consequences. It can be possible by reducing the negative impacts of tourism on natural and cultural resources and by enhancing the tourism potential in areas where tourism activities are sustainable. The purpose of this study is to determine the tourism potential of the province of Kütahya using geographical information systems. In the study, tourism potential maps were created by analysing together natural data such as curvature, maintenance, height and cultural data such as land use, transport and infrastructure, and the areas suitable for tourism activities were refined in the context of natural and cultural landscape potential. The program ArcMap 10.6 has been used to create tourism potential maps.
