Abstract:

Camalty painting is a traditional kind of public painting. This technique, which has a different pattern from the understanding of classic painting and classic glass art in terms of technical need, requires content, has given examples in many geographical areas such as Anadolu, India, Europe. In traditional examples, the camalt painting on religion, nature and myths has been tested and applied for various reasons by well-known artists in their fields along with the twentieth century. While some artists are not surprised by traditional techniques in these works, some have applied different materials along with this technique. Although the advancement of technology and contemporary art progress in a digital direction, artists who do not break the connection with classical and traditional techniques incorporate the use of different materials into the production processes. In this study, shaped through the data obtained by literature scan, the sampling consists of traditional and most anonymous works, camalt painting samples of artists producing in different fields and camalt painting reinterpreted contemporary art samples. In this context, the purpose of the study is to reconsider, remind and ensure reuse of the glass painting, which is a traditional method, and to be interpreted with the new generation of materials as a production method. In addition to the examples of popular art produced by this technique, the study was asked to show how much the technique can be developed and continued to be applied by placing examples from the camalt paintings of famous painters and the camalt examples that began to take place in contemporary art.
