Abstract:

Some technologies are easily adopted and used by society. The rapid spread of smart phones in a short time is an example of this. In our country, the use of smart phones is extremely common, especially among young people. Often, with the possibilities provided by communication, the use of the internet and the multi-media features, these technological devices that individuals can carry anywhere at any time in their pockets make life easier. However, some behavior changes that occur cause a variety of problems in school and family life. After the necessary literature scan, in the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year 21.081 high school students formed the research universe in the central district of Sivas of eleven separate high schools 9-10-11 and 12. 537 students who studied in the classes were involved in the research by random sampling method. A survey form developed by the researcher and consisting of 57 questions was applied to the survey and the data obtained, evaluated in the SPSS 23 program, the findings obtained were subjected to this study. In the study, according to the socio-economic conditions in which high school students are in, the behavior of using smart phones in school and home environment has been studied in terms of various variables. The data obtained shows that acquiring a smartphone is considered an obligation among high school students, that its use is extremely common, that the phone has been owned in the early ages, and that there is a significant problem of addiction. The use of smart phones in school and home environment shows that it creates a variety of problems in bilateral relationships, supported by the data that the mobile phones kept open and used in class is an important source of problem during the processing of classes.
