Abstract:

Global warming is one of the most important problems of mankind today, and this problem is growing with a day-to-day increasing momentum. The measures taken internationally since the 1990s have not been sufficient. The most important factor triggering global warming is the increase in the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and especially CO2. It is also known that this is the cause of fossil fuels used to produce energy. The energy demand is increasing in fossil fuel consumption and therefore the CO2 emissions are increasing. Today, a sector that has the potential to reach dimensions that energy needs are increasing and not undermining on a daily basis is the Information and Communication Technologies (ITT) sector. It is also clear that with new technologies such as the Internet of Things, cryptocurrencies, the energy demand for BIT will rise rapidly every day. In this context, the measures that countries, companies, communities can take in addition to individual measures are also important. This conceptual study aims to identify the measures that can be taken individually in the context of green information against global warming, with the emphasis on the importance of global warming. For this purpose, green information studies in literature and studies in the field of interest of green information have been drawn out, the quantities of CO2 emissions that various IT means can cause in order to draw attention to the cumulative effect that may occur, calculated and proposed by compiling measures that can be taken individually. The study ended with the fact that the global warming is at a very critical point in terms of the size it has come, that any measures that can be taken against the global warming are very valuable, and that any measures that can be taken individually will have a remarkable impact on the global warming.
