Abstract:

The study aimed at studying the cartoon Rafadan Tayfa, which pre-school children prefer to watch in terms of social gender. The model of the research is defined as the status study of the quality research methods. In the study group, Uşak ili center primary schools associated with their motherhood in the 2017-2018 educational year, 344 children and 20 parts of the cartoon of Rafadan Tayfa (intersections of the World Record-Yumak's Club) formed. For the purpose of collecting data in the study, the form for determining the cartoons and opinions that children watch, the form for assessing the social gender orientation of the cartoons for pre-school children, was used. The form includes cartoon characters' clothes, professions, home and outside tasks sharing, personality characteristics, games that children play and categories of toys that children play. In each category, information is obtained on how the woman and the man, the girl and the boy are detailed in the cartoon. According to the results of the research, the cartoon of Rafadan Tayfa is among the first 5 cartoon films that children prefer to watch. There are 11 male characters and 2 female characters. While each of the male characters is observed in professions such as business, lawyer, director, female characters have not been observed in any field of profession. It is observed that women and male characters act together in the activities they do in the house and help in the homework that requires strength. In the outdoors activities, women’s characters are observed in activities such as bringing food, putting shells, while men’s characters are observed in 11 different activities, from painting to traffic responsibility. It is determined that the female characters in the cartoon have anxious and helpful personality characteristics, while the men are helpful, enthusiastic, intelligent and curious. In the games played in the cartoon, male characters are observed in 10 different games such as match, long jumping, ball competition, while female characters are only observed in the theatre game. It is also among the findings that male characters play different toys such as balls, balls, robots, and that female characters do not play with toys.
