Abstract:

The subject of this research is the volunteer patient careers who are connected to the elderly patient with family relationships in our society and with a sense of personal, social and cultural responsibility in hospitals with the elderly patient. The research has two main objectives. First of all, the problems arising from the hospital conditions of the "unformal patient careers" are addressed from the patient’s point of view and from the patient’s point of view they take care of. The observations of patients careers who form a research group for the hospital conditions and other staff working in these conditions have been included, the problems related to the care of elderly patients have been attempted to describe. Secondly, it aims to reveal the impact of the hospital conditions on the care burden of the elderly relatives and the level of extinction. 179 individuals who were concerned with the care of the elderly patients treated in the hospital were taken into the scope of the research according to the principle of volunteering and randomity. Individuals have been applied "The Daily Life Activities Index", "The Weight Scale of the Careers" and "Maslach Exhaust Reserve. It has also been used a question form that allows elderly relatives and elderly patients to determine demographic and socio-economic conditions. The study found that the "Day Life Activities Index" score of older patients was 10,245±3,41. The load scale of the caregivers" is 23.470±15,700 points. The time-dependence burden on the elderly is 41.81%, the developmental burden is 26.80%, the physical burden is 25.13%, the social burden is 10.75% and the emotional burden is 15.38. Elderly relatives experience 48.1 percent exhaust, 37.2 percent emotional exhaust, 27.9 percent insensitivity and 68.8 percent personal failure. The negative condition of the hospital, the care of the elderly patient and the criticism of the health team have a negative impact on the care burden and the level of exhaust. Therefore, it is important to develop the policy of patient care. It is important to work on the development of informal support programs for the elderly relatives who accompany the patient in the hospital.
