Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between the communication skills of the teachers candidates studying in the fourth class of the Pamukkale University School of Education and the level of empathic tendency. The universe of research, 2018-2019 academic year Pamukkale University School of Education Class Education Department of Anabolics forms fourth-class students. This study has studied whether the level of empathic tendency of class teacher candidates and the communication skills of teachers candidates differ according to the high school type, gender, educational conditions of parents, the number of brothers and sisters and the reasons why they choose the teaching profession. The study has been attempted to describe a situation that exists and therefore to figure out how much variables are related to each other. The research model is an imaginary study, which is a relative scan model from general scan models. In this study, the data collection tool was developed by Spreng and his friends (2009) with the aim of measuring the levels of empathy of individuals and the Turkish adaptation was made by Totan, Doğan and Sapmaz (2012) with the "Toronto Empathic Trend Measurement" and the "Communication Skills Evaluation Measurement" developed by Korkut (1996) (IBDÖ). According to the research findings, there was no significant difference in the level of empathic tendencies and communication skills of class teacher candidates according to the gender, the type of school they graduated, the number of brothers and sisters, the educational conditions of parents and the reasons for choosing the teaching profession. The class teacher has found a meaningful relationship in a positive direction between the empathic trends of the candidates and the total points of communication skills.
