Bu araştırmanın amacı ortaokul öğrencilerinin bilime, bilim insanına, fen bilimleri dersine ve fen deneylerine yönelik algısının incelenmesidir. Araştırmada öğrenci görüşlerine ve çizimlerine yer verilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Çanakkale İli Merkez ilçede yaşamakta olan bir devlet ortaokulunda öğrenim gören öğrenciler arasından rastgele yöntemle seçilmiş biri 5.sınıf, biri 6.sınıf, üçü 8.sınıf olmak üzere; toplam 5 ortaokul öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan durum çalışması kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın verilerinin toplanmasında görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Bu araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak 7 tane açık uçlu görüşme sorusu kullanılmıştır. Görüşme formunda yer alan 2 soruda öğrencilerin bilim, bilim insanı, fen bilimleri dersi ve fen deneyleri konulu resim çizmeleri istenmiştir ve öğrenciler görüşlerini resim çizerek ifade etmeye çalışmışlardır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz tekniği ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulguları, öğrencilerin bazılarının bilim ve bilim insanı hakkında yeterli bilgiye sahip olmadıkları bazılarının ise bilimi sadece teknolojik araçlardan ibaret olduğunu düşündüğünü göstermektedir. Öğrencilerin fen dersi ve fen deneyleri ile ilgili görüşleri incelendiğinde de öğrencilerin fen deneylerine karşı olumlu tutumda oldukları ancak görüşme sonuçlarından fen derslerinde öğretmenlerinin deneye çok yer vermiyor oldukları anlaşılmaktadır. Araştırma sonuçlarına genel anlamda bakıldığında öğrencilerin bilim ve bilim insanı ile ilgili eksik bilgilerinin olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına dayalı olarak bilim insanı ile ilgili yanlış algıların düzeltilmesine yönelik etkinlikler yaptırılabilir. Öğrencilerin, üniversitelere düzenlenecek olan geziler yoluyla bilim insanlarının çalıştığı ortamı görmeleri sağlanabilir ve bilim insanları ile tanışmaları, merak ettikleri soruları sormalarına fırsat verilebilir.
The purpose of this research is to study the perception of high school students of science, scientist, science course and science experiments. The study included students’ opinions and drawings. The study group is randomly chosen among the students who are studying in a state high school in the central district of Çanakkale, one class 5th, one class 6th, three class 8th; a total of 5 high school students. It is one of the research methods that has been used. The interview technique was used in the collection of the research data. In this study, 7 open-end conversation questions were used as a data collection tool. In the 2 questions included in the interview form, students were asked to draw pictures on the subject of science, scientist, science courses and science experiments, and students tried to express their views by drawing pictures. The data obtained was analyzed using the visual analysis technique. Research findings show that some students do not have sufficient knowledge of science and scientist, while some believe that science is just technological tools. When students are studied their opinions about science lessons and science experiments, it is also clear that students are in a positive attitude towards science experiments, but from the results of the interview, their teachers don’t have much room for the experiment in the science classes. In general, the research finds that students lack knowledge about the scientist and scientist. Based on the findings of the research, activities can be carried out to correct the misconceptions of the scientist. Students can be given the opportunity to see the environment in which scientists work through the university trips to be organized, and they can be given the opportunity to meet the scientists, ask questions they wonder.
