Bilgi çağı olarak adlandırılan içinde bulunduğumuz dönemde, örgütlerin başarı ölçütü, maddi ve mali kaynaklardan ziyade, elinde bulundurduğu entelektüel sermayeyi nasıl yönettiğine bağlanmıştır. Örgütlerin değeri, yalnızca sahip oldukları finansal varlıklarla ölçülmekten çıkmış, sahip oldukları bilgi, tecrübe, nitelikli işgücü gibi entelektüel unsurlarla değerlendirilmeye başlamıştır. Entelektüel sermaye, insanın sahip olduğu bilginin değeridir. Aynı zamanda entelektüel sermaye, örgüt çalışanlarının kişisel olarak kendilerine verilmiş olan görevleri yapabilmesi için sahip oldukları ve kullandıkları bilgilerin, yeteneklerin, becerilerin ve yaratıcılık özelliklerinin bir bütün olarak bir araya getirilmiş halidir. Bu sermaye türü, örgüte ait olan değerleri, örgüt kültürünü ve felsefesini kapsamaktadır. Bu çalışmada, entelektüel sermaye kavramından bahsedildikten sonra, bilgi yönetimi açısından örgütlerdeki artan önemine değinilecektir.
In the time we are in the information age, the success measure of organizations is linked to how they manage the intellectual capital they possess, rather than the material and financial resources. The value of organizations has only been measured by the financial assets they have, and it has begun to be assessed by intellectual elements such as their knowledge, experience, qualified labour. Intellectual capital is the value of the knowledge man possesses. At the same time, intellectual capital is a state that is combined as a whole of the information, skills, skills and creativity characteristics that organizational employees have and use to fulfil their personal tasks. This type of capital covers the values that belong to the organization, the organization culture and philosophy. In this study, after talking about the concept of intellectual capital, we will point to the increasing importance of information management in organizations.
