Bu çalışma ilkokul üçüncü ve dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin “uzay” ve “uydu” kavramlarına ilişkin algılarını metaforlar aracılığıyla ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, “Öğrencilerin uzay ve uydu kavramına ilişkin metaforları nelerdir sorusuna cevap aranmıştır”. Çalışmada bireylerin bir olguya ilişkin görüşlerinin tespit edilmesi amacıyla olgu bilim desen kullanılmıştır. Veriler, 2018-2019 öğretim yılı güz yarıyılında Malatya’da bir ilkokulda okumakta olan 47 kız, 43 erkek öğrenci olmak üzere toplam 90 öğrencinin “Uzay ……gibidir. Çünkü ……” ve “Uydu ……gibidir. Çünkü ……” ifadelerini tamamlamasıyla elde edilmiştir. Sonuçlarımıza göre, öğrenciler “Uzay” kavramı için 90 geçerli metafor üretmiştir. Öğrencilerden elde edilen verilerde uzay kavramı için en çok “Boşluk” (f=28) metaforu kullanılmıştır. “Uydu” kavramı için 86 geçerli metafor üretmiştir. Öğrencilerden elde edilen verilerde uydu kavramı için en çok “Televizyon (TV) çalıştırıcısı” (f=20) metaforu kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlarımıza göre, öğrencilerin uydu ve uzay kavramına ilişkin algıları çok yönlü ve farklılıklar içermektedir. Metaforlar öğrencilerin uzay ve uydu kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları kişisel algıları, kavram yanılgıları ve eksik bilgilerini ortaya çıkarmada güçlü bir araştırma aracı olarak kullanılabilir.
This study was done with the aim of revealing the perceptions of primary school third and fourth-class students about the concepts of "space" and "sleep" through metaphors. In this context, the question "What are the metaphors of the students about the concept of space and satellite is sought to answer." In the study, the factual science pattern was used in order to identify the views of individuals about a fact. The data is the "Space" of a total of 90 students, including 47 girls and 43 boys, who are studying in a primary school in Malta in the 2018-2019 academic year. Because...” and “the satellite...” is a gibi. “Because it has been made by completing its statements. According to our findings, students have produced 90 valid metaphors for the concept of "Space". In the data obtained from students, the most commonly used metaphor "Vacuum" (f = 28) for the concept of space. It has produced 86 valid metaphors for the concept of "satellite". In the data obtained from students, the satellite concept was mostly used by the "Television (TV) operator" (f=20). According to our findings, the perceptions of students about the satellite and space concepts are diverse and contain differences. Metaphors can be used as a powerful research tool to reveal the personal perceptions, conceptual errors and lack of knowledge that students have about space and satellite concepts.
The aim of this study to reveal the perceptions of students’ on “Space” and “Satellite” concepts through metaphors. The study is designed based on one of the qualitative research method named as phenomenology and analyzed with content analysis. The data on completing the expression “Space/Satellite….…is like. Because ….” was collected using 47 female students, 43 male students total 100 third and fourth grade elementary school students. According to our results, students created 90 valid metaphor for “Space” and 86 for “Satellite”. From the data, it is understood that mostly ‘Gap’ metaphor (f=28) is used by the participants related to space. Mostly “Television (TV) trainer” metaphor (f=20) is used by the students related to satellite. According to our results, students' perceptions of satellite and space concept are multifaceted and different. Metaphors can be used as a powerful research tool in revealing students' personal perceptions, misconceptions and incomplete information about the concept of space and satellite.
