Türk toplumunda eğitim başta olmak üzere modernleşme ve yenileşmeler genel itibariyle ilk olarak askeri alanda gerçekleşmiş ve daha sonra sivil alana geçmiştir. Bu durum, dolayısı ile müzik alanı için de geçerlidir. Cumhuriyet dönemi müzik politikalarının, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk'ün sistemli bir şekilde planladığı doğrultuda uygulanmaya başlanmasında, devam ettirilmesinde ve sivil alana yayılmasında asker müzisyenler etkin rol oynamışlardır. Araştırmada, Cumhuriyet Döneminde gerçekleştirilen müzik politikalarına genel itibari ile değinilmiş, başta İstiklal Marşımızın bestecisi Albay Osman Zeki Üngör olmak üzere, Yarbay Veli Kanık, Albay Servet İhsan Künçer ve Yarbay Halid Recep Arman gibi Türk müzik eğitim ve kültür hayatına yön vermiş önde gelen asker müzisyenler, Cumhuriyet'in ilanı ile uygulanan yenilikçi müzik politikalarına ne gibi katkılarının bulunduğunun ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın, askeri müzik alanında kaynak teşkil edebileceği ve askeri müzik alanında konu ile ilgili bir takım eksiklikleri giderebileceği değerlendirilmektedir.
Modernization and renewal in the Turkish society primarily occurred in general first in the military area and then in the civil area. This also applies to the music field. Military musicians have played an effective role in the implementation, continuation and dissemination of the music policies of the Republican period, in the direction that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk systematically planned. The research, referred to the music policies carried out in the Republic Period with general reputation, primarily the composer of our Istiklal March, Colonel Osman Zeki Üngör, Colonel Veli Kanık, Colonel Servet İhsan Künçer and Colonel Halid Recep Arman, the leading military musicians who directed the Turkish music education and cultural life, aimed at revealing what their contribution to the innovative music policies carried out by the announcement of the Republic. It is estimated that the research could be a source in the field of military music and could solve a number of issues related to the subject in the field of military music.
In Turkish society, modernization and innovation movements that occurred in many field, especially in education, firstly took place in the military field and then moved to civilian area. This is also true for the music. Military musicians played an active role in the initiation, implementation and dissemination of the music policies of the Republican era in line with the systematic way planned by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The present study, which contains an overall examination of the music policies of the Republican Era, aims to reveal the contributions of prominent military musicians, who shaped Turkish music education and cultural life, such as Colonel Osman Zeki Üngör, composer of Turkish National Anthem, Colonel Veli Kanık, Colonel Servet İhsan Künçer and Lieutenant Colonel Halid Recep Arman to the innovative music policies applied with the proclamation of the Republic. We believe that this study can be a source for further studies and can fill the current gap in the field of military music.
