Abstract:

Turkey has a significant potential in the production of fat seeds in terms of its ecology, climate and soil structure. In Turkey, in 2016, 3 million 462 thousand tons of oil seeds were produced, 239 thousand tons of oil seeds exports, 2 million 940 thousand tons of oil seeds imports were made. In the oil seeds produced in Turkey, the first place is in terms of production quantity, with a share of 50.8%, and the second place is in terms of a share of 38% of cotton grape. In 2017, $1.465 million was paid for oil seeds imports. In addition, $1 billion 270 million for raw oil, which is fat seed derivatives, and $481 million for fat seed cabbage, were paid. In total, $3 billion and $216 billion of oil seeds and derivatives were imported. In this study, the oil seed in the world and in Turkey is focused on the ways to be monitored to increase the efficiency of oil seed production in Turkey, the amount of production, the productivity status, the external trade structure, and the policies implemented.

In this study, oilseed cultivation area in the world and Turkey, production amount, and the yield has been put forward conditions, foreign trade structure has been examined. In Turkey, for increasing the efficiency of production of oilseeds and policies, it focused on ways to be followed.
