Yakup Kadri, Fecr-i Ati topluluğunun görüşlerini benimseyen, daha sonra Millî Edebiyatına dâhil olan, Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nde de pek çok alanda eser veren yazar, gazeteci ve teorisyendir. İyi bir eğitim alan Yakup Kadri, milletvekilliği ve diplomatlık görevlerinde de bulunur. Yakup Kadri, hem romanlarında hem de gazete yazılarında Millî Mücadele’yi savunur ve mücadeleye destek verir. Bir toplumdaki değişimin, gelişimin sadece siyasi yönden olamayacağını, sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik yönlerden de olması gerektiği bilincine sahiptir. Bu nedenle özelikle gazete yazılarında, geniş bir yelpaze çizerek pek çok alandaki sorunları ele alır. Olaylara; iyi bir gözlemci, bir fikir adamı, bir aydın titizliliğiyle yaklaşır. Bu çalışmada Yakup Kadri’nin, İkdam gazetesinde yayımlanan “İstanbul Eğleniyor, Gülünç İstanbul, İstanbul’un İmarı, İstanbul’un Derece-i Harareti, İstanbul’da Müdafa-i Millîye Teşkilatı, İstanbul’un Sefahati, İstanbul’da Fuhuş, Vatan Hainleri ve İstanbul, Malul İstanbul, İstanbul’da Düyûn-ı Umumiyye İdaresi, İstanbul Muallimleri, Anadolu, İstanbul, İstanbul Daru’l-Fünunu, İstanbul’un Müstesna Vaziyeti, İstanbul Kurtulmamıştır” başlıklı yazıları incelenmiş; Millî Mücadele, döneminde İstanbul halkının yaşayışı, İstanbul’da yaşanan ahlakî yozlaşma, eğitim kurumları, İstanbul’un imarı gibi konular, Yakup Kadri’nin bakış açısıyla ortaya konulmuştur.
Yakup Kadri is a writer, journalist and theorist who adopted the views of the Fecr-i Ati community, which was later included in the National Literature, and who worked in many areas during the Republican Period. Jacob Kadri, who has a good education, is also in parliamentary and diplomatic duties. Jacob Kadri defends the National Struggle in both his novels and newspapers and supports the struggle. He has the consciousness that change in a society should not only be political, but also social, cultural and economic. Therefore, especially in the newspapers, he addresses the problems in many areas by drawing a wide range of drawings. A good observer, a thought man, approaches the events with a clear accuracy. Yakup Kadri is a writer, journalist anda theorist, who adopted the views of the Fecr-i Ati community, later joined the National Literature, and published in many areas during the Republican Period. Kadri, who had a good education, also served as a deputy and a diplomat. Yakup Kadri defends and supports the National Struggle in his novels and newspaper articles. He is aware that the change in a society cannot be only political, but it should also be social, cultural and economic aspects. For this reason, he handles a wide range of problems especially in his newspaper articles. He is a good observer with an intellectual approach to the events.
