Milli Mücadelenin zafer ile sona ermesi Türk Milleti için, ekonomi alanında başlatılacak yeni bir savaşın başlangıcını oluşturmuştur. Genç devletin siyasi varlığının güvence altına alınması noktasında ekonomi ön plana çıkarılmış, Ulusal egemenlik kavramı iktisadi egemenlikle birleştirilmiştir. Bu süreçte İzmir İktisat Kongresinde alınan Misak-ı İktisadi kararlarıyla kısmi liberal ekonomi politikası benimsenerek özel sektörün gelişimi amaçlanmıştır. Ulusal ekonominin temellerinin atıldığı bu dönemde Bursa, işletmelere sağlanan teşviklerden en çok yararlanan kentlerden biri olmuştur. Erken tarihlerden itibaren Atatürk’te Bursa’ya gerçekleştirdiği gezilerde yaptığı konuşmalarda Bursa’nın sahip olduğu ekonomik gelişim potansiyeline vurgu yapmış, Bursalıların bu yöndeki kabiliyetine olan inancını dile getirmiştir. 1930’lu yıllarda, ekonomide devletçiliğin uygulanması ve devletin ekonomiye müdahalesinin kurumsallaşmasıyla Bursa’da var olan işletmelerin yanında dokuma sektöründe faaliyet gösterecek iki büyük devlet fabrikası kurularak ekonomik dinamizm yaratılmıştır. Atatürk’ün, bu fabrikaların açılışını yapmak için Bursa’ya gerçekleştirdiği geziler, O’nun Cumhuriyetin varlığını sürdürmesinde ekonomik kalkınmaya verdiği önemin ve kent olarak Bursa’nın potansiyeline olan inancının göstergesi olmuştur.
The end of the national struggle with victory for the Turkish nation has been the beginning of a new war in the economic field. At the point of ensuring the political existence of the young state, the economy was put to the forefront, the concept of national sovereignty was combined with economic sovereignty. This process is aimed at the development of the private sector by adopting part-liberal economic policy with the Misak-i Economic Decisions adopted at the İzmir Economic Congress. Concluding of the National Struggle with the victory has been formation of commencing of a new war to be continued in economical area. Economy has been put forward in securing the polical existence of the state in this period and National Sovereignty concept has been united with the economical sovereignty. In this period development of private sector by adoption of partial liberal economy with the decisions of economical pact is aimed. Bursa has been one of the the most advantaged city from the encouragements provided to the enterprises in these years. Ataturk highligted the evolution potential owned by Bursa and his belief about its ability in this direction in his speeches done during Bursa trips. Two big state factories have been established in textile sector besides currently existing plants and economical dynamism have been craeted by the years 1930s with the application of statism in economy and institutionalization of government intervention in the economy. Ataturks Bursa trips for inauguration of these factories have been indication of his given importance to economic development in sustaining the existence of the republic and potential of Bursa as a city.
