Yüzyıllar boyunca sayısız medeniyete ev sahipliği yapan Anadolu, büyük bir kültür çeşitliliğine ve birçok geleneksel el sanatına sahiptir. Şüphesiz ki Anadolu’da en önemli el sanatlarından biri de dokumacılıktır. Anadolu’nun birçok kesiminde tarım ve hayvancılık faaliyetleri sonucunda şekillenen dokumacılık, en önemli maddi kültür öğeleri arasında yer almaktadır. Anadolu’daki geleneksel dokumacılık faaliyetlerinden biri de Siirt Battaniyesi üretimidir. Binlerce yıldır Siirt ve çevresinden geleneksel yöntemlerle üretilen Siirt Battaniyesi, Ankara Tiftik Keçisinden kırkılarak dokunmaktadır. Kesilen tiftikler kirman ile eğrildikten sonra, elde edilen iplikler, özel tezgâhlarda battaniye olarak dokunmaktadır. Dokunan battaniyeler çelik taraklarla vurularak tüylendirilip şekillendirilmektedir. Köklü bir geçmişe sahip olan Siirt Battaniyesi 1977 yılında tescil edilmiştir. Siirt Battaniyesi özellikle son yıllarda ekolojik ve yerel ürünlere olan yoğun talepten dolayı geniş bir pazar imkânına sahiptir. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı geçmişe kıyasla önemi azalmış olan en önemli el sanatlarından biri olan dokumacılığın ve bunun sonucunda ortaya çıkan Siirt Battaniyesi’nin eski önemine kavuşmasını sağlamak ve sosyo-kültürel açıdan oldukça önemli olan bu maddi kültür öğesinin gelecek nesillere taşınmasına katkı sunmaktır. Çalışmada elde edilen bulgulara göre Siirt yöresinde Siirt Battaniyesi ve diğer geleneksel dokuma ürünleri üreten atölye sayısı yaklaşık 70 civarında olup, bu atölyelerde 100’e yakın kişi istihdam edilmektedir. Sonuç olarak Siirt yöresinde usta çırak ilişkisiyle yapılan dokumacılık faaliyetleri ve battaniye üretimi, yeni nesillerin ilgi göstermemesi nedeniyle yok olma tehlikesi ile karşı karşıyadır. Ancak Siirt Battaniyesi’nin kültürel ve ekolojik bir ürün olarak son yıllarda tekrardan yoğun ilgi görmesi, yörenin ekonomik kalkınmasına katkı sağlaması ve bu geleneksel el sanatının yaşatılması bakımından oldukça önemlidir.
Anadolu, which has hosted numerous civilizations for centuries, has a great cultural diversity and many traditional crafts. Unfortunately, one of the most important crafts in Anatolia is documentation. In many parts of Anadolu, the textures formed as a result of agricultural and animal activities are among the most important material cultural elements. One of the traditional texting activities in Anadolu is the production of Siirt Battaniyesi. The Siirt Battaniyesi, which has been manufactured by traditional methods for thousands of years from Siirt and its surroundings, is touched by the Ankara Tiftik Sheep. After the cut typhtics are curved with the curtain, the obtained wire is touched as a coat in the special tires. The touched coatings are shattered and shaped by shooting with steel scraps. The Siirt Battaniyesi, which has a root history, was registered in 1977. Siirt Battaniyesi has a wide market potential especially in recent years due to the intense demand for ecological and local products. The main objective of this study is to ensure that texturalism, one of the most important crafts that has been less important than in the past, and the Siirt Battanies that arise as a result of it, become old, and to contribute to the transfer of this material element of culture, which is socially and culturally very important, to the future generations. Undoubtedly one of the most important handicrafts in Anatolia is weaving. The weaving, which is shaped by agriculture and livestock activities in many parts of Anatolia, is one of the most important material elements of culture. One of the traditional weaving activities in Anatolia is the production of Siirt Blanket. Siirt Blanket, which has been produced by traditional methods from Siirt and its surroundings, has been touched by Ankara Angora Goat. Once the cut mohair has been skewed, the yarns obtained are woven as blankets on special looms. Woven blankets are shot and shaped with steel combs. The Siirt Blanket, which has a long history, was registered in 1977. Siirt Blanket has a wide market opportunity especially due to the high demand for ecological and local products. The main purpose of this study is to ensure that the weaving, which is one of the most important handicrafts, and the resulting Siirt Blanket, which is one of the most important handicrafts, has decreased in importance compared to the past and to contribute to the transportation of this material culture which is very important in terms of socio-cultural importance to the next generations. According to the findings obtained in the study, Siirt Blanket and other traditional weaving products in Siirt region is around 70, and approximately 100 people are employed in these workshops. As a result, the production of blankets and blanket production in the Siirt region with the master apprentice relationship is facing the danger of extinction due to the lack of interest of the new generations. However, Siirt Blanket's cultural and ecological product in recent years as a great interest in the recent years, to contribute to the economic development of the region and this traditional handicraft is very important in terms of survival.
