Abstract:

The design that exists in every area of human life is a dimension of knowledge; It is a cognitiveandemotional concept consisting of three rooms, focused on process, technology and object. Garment designers realizeby good analyzing all these processes their designs. This condition has obligated producers give importance to desing, necessitating different and dignotion in the presenting products to liking of the cosumer. The emergence of designs that meet the demands and expectations of consumers and that serve a purpose and meet the requirements of the times may be possible with different design approaches that designers adoptandapply. Nowadays, new expectations that addvalue to the product, such as product usability, service to the users of the product, designing to wards a goal, are coming to the forefront. Especially in fashion and textile industry, besides theaes the dimension of the products, the usability dimension is an important situation which is not overlooked. For this reason, theuser-centered design approach, which is one of the design approaches, is an approach that aims to design products in accordance with the age-appropriate user satisfactionand it is important or the designers to make user-centered designs as much as they are from the consumer point of view. In this study, the user-centered design approachby taking and it has aimed that the designers of the garment enterprisese valuate the applicationsituations of this approach. The sample of the research is composed of 25 volunteer designers that worked in ready-made businesses operating in Ankara and identified through random sampling. Incollect data were used that prepared measurement tool by researches. With likert-type measurement was taked and evaluated in regard to the opinion of designers user- centered design approachtheuse of condition. The data obtained were analyze dusing SPSS 15 statistical program and interpreted as frequency and relationshiptables. As a result of research, it has become clear that designers have applied the user-centered design approach at significant levels during the design process. It is important to give guidance to producers, designers and consumers and to contribute to the literature.
