“Postmodernizm” sözcüğü, ilk olarak 1950-60’lı yıllarda kullanılmaya başlanmış ve 1970’li yıllarda yaygınlaşarak öncelikle sanat ve mimari alanlarında, yeni eğilimleri ifade edebilmek için kullanılmıştır. Postmodernizm kavramı, başta sanat çevreleri olmak üzere, birçok farklı alanlarda tartışmalara sebep olarak, modernizmin sorgulanmasına ve yeni arayışların ortaya çıkmasına yol açmıştır. Günümüzde postmodernizm, toplum düzeni ve işleyişi, hukuk teorisi, bilim felsefesi, mimari, heykel, görsel sanatlar, plastik sanatlar, edebiyat, müzik ve sahne sanatlarının da bulunduğu, geniş bir alanda ortaya çıkan, yeni yaklaşım ve yeni düşünce biçimlerini kapsamaktadır. Postmodern sanat anlayışı çerçevesinde sanatçı, tam bir özgürlük içerisinde yaratıcılığını kullanabilmekte ve hiçbir misyona bağlı kalmadan yaşamı olduğu gibi yansıtabilmektedir. İşte bu çalışma, genel olarak postmodern sanat anlayışının ana hatlarını çizmekte olup, özellikle müzik ve sahne sanatlarındaki öncülerini ve bu sanat dallarına olan yansımalarını inceleme amacı taşımaktadır.
The word "postmodernism" was first used in the 1950s and 1960s and was used to express new trends in the 1970s, primarily in the fields of art and architecture. The concept of postmodernism has led to the questioning of modernism and the emergence of new aspirations as a cause of debate in many different areas, primarily in the art environments. Today, postmodernism covers new approaches and new forms of thinking, emerging in a broad sphere, including social order and function, law theory, scientific philosophy, architecture, sculpture, visual arts, plastic arts, literature, music and stage arts. In the context of postmodern art, the artist is able to use his creativity in full freedom and reflect his life as it is, without being bound to any mission. This study, in general, is drawing the main lines of postmodern art understanding, with the aim of studying its pioneers in music and stage arts and its reflections on these branches of art.
The term “postmodernism”, starting to be used in 1950-60’s and growing up in 70’s is employed to express the new tendancies primarily in the field of art and architecture. The concept of postmodernizm caused many discussions in arts as well as in other fields. The examination of the modern concept leads us to the appearance of new pursuits. Nowadays postmodernism includes new approaches and new ways of thinking emerged in the extensive areas as; public order and functioning, legal theory, science philosopy, architecture, sculpture, visual arts, plastic arts, literature, music and performing arts. The artist in the context of postmodern art may use his or her creativity in total freedom and reflect life as it is in his or her work without any ties or attachments to a specific mission. Therefore this study in general, outlines of the understanding of postmodern art as well as examines its pioneers in music and performing arts and how this understanding is reflected in these art forms.
